History

Glace was born in a cavern, somewhere bordering Coerthas and the Black Shroud, to a father who didn't want him and a mother who didn't survive. The son of Severin Silencieuse, necromancer, voidcaller, and once the head of minor Ishgardian house Morvaire, was as silent as the deep winter snows that blanketed the land outside. The illness which claimed his mother had already seeped into his tiny body and lingered, keeping him bedridden for most of his childhood. Before his thirteenth winter, he was abandoned near Camp Bentbranch when his clan were driven from their cavern after becoming overrun with undead. To them, and to Severin especially, the boy was a burdensome deadweight who didn't have the better judgment to simply die. There, he was found by one of Gridania's Conjurers and brought back to Stillglade Fane to recover, but even they could do nothing to remove his sickness.A few years before the Calamity, the Empire's soldiers were already encroaching on Eorzean territories, as happened one day when the Conjurer in charge of his care brought him out into the Shroud with a handful of others for some fresh air and a change of scenery. Those who were not killed were taken prisoner, including Glace. He was brought back to Garlemald and entered into the Colossus Project. If nothing else, had the boy not survived, his body could still have been used for the practice of grafting augmentations onto flesh. The project was responsible for the development of Garlemald's own Magitek colossii, designed after some old, derelict ones Allag left behind. Where Allag's were biological and mechanical, Garlemald attempted to reverse engineer this concept and make their own by combining Magitek augmentations with Spoken specimens as a proof that they could achieve the same results. Glace not only survived, but he thrived in the wake of his rebirth due to the immune-boosting inoculations all of the subjects received. Such a thing was unheard of in Eorzean medicine at the time.As with all of the project's subjects, he was assigned a number - 0178 - which he embraced and cast off his old birth name as a stigma. From this, he would build a new identity and, in gratitude for his new life and robust health, dedicated himself to serving as a hand of the Empire. In time, he distinguished himself among his peers and earned his "Lettering", FB, which was short for Frost Blade, so named for the type of augmentation he received and his affinity for manipulating ice. He was trained to specialize in survival, assassination, and recovery of stolen Imperial assets.Unfortunately, matters within the Colossus Project were not entirely organized. There was conflict between two of the founders of the project, Lillium Pyr Sylvanius who wanted to use their findings to advance medical science, and Lysander Sas Theius, who sought to grow the Empire's military might as well as his own power. The subjects were split between them, some going unwillingly to one side or the other, and those who ended up with Theius endured even further, horrific modifications, while those under Sylvanius sat in isolation and stagnation. The latter claimed it was out of fear that her "children" would lose even more of their humanity than they already had, and she sent 0178FB into Eorzea on constant assignment to protect him from Theius. He remembered very little of his life before the Empire, not that he had much of one aside from four walls and a bunk. There was much and more that he needed to learn about everyday life in Eorzea in order to blend in, so he created a cover for himself as a taxidermist and an alias - Torzivir Caravelle. What had started off as a front became another way of living, and he found that he didn't mind life on the outside of the Castrum, but he still had much work to do.Many conflicts followed between himself and Theius and his most loyal subjects as 0178FB sought to protect his siblings, and after three years of conflict, he succeeded in ending Lysander Sas Theius' life. The Tribunus, who was already wounded from another incident, perished in an airship crash after 0178FB and a handful of Imperial Shadows infiltrated the vessel.Since that day, with their battle silenced, 0178FB turned his abilities toward other concerns; Among them, covertly participating in the destruction of Black Rose manufacturing and supply lines. Some of this time was spent idle, however, but it left him with opportunities to work on building a new home for his siblings. Having crafted a deal with the Goblins in Idyllshire, a new settlement was established in the Orn Wild. This new home would later come to be known as Understone. As his hopes for the future and lives of the others took shape, turmoil erupted in Garlemald following Varus' assassination. His siblings were once again locked down and then removed from Sylvanius' custody to parts unknown before they could see their new home. After what felt like months of searching for any clue, the others were located in a strange black tower in Yanxia, similar to many others which had popped up around Eorzea. Many of those who were inside were corrupted and twisted beyond any recognition, leaving him to deliver their deaths as the kindest option, and having to do so tore him to his very soul. So many lost... where the Colossus Project subject once numbered 300, barely 50 remained. In the wake of all this, the survivors were finally able to reach Understone and settle in... just in time for the Final Days to begin. There would be no rest for the weary but, thankfully, they avoided the worst of what some other lands and peoples endured. Some, perhaps, even ventured out to help where they could with their unique abilities, or set off to explore after the final calamity was averted. The future of Glace, the former Colossus Project survivors, and Understone is yet to be written.

Personality:Glace can be a difficult person to get to know beyond an acquaintance. He's very guarded because of his history, but also because of his training he has a habit of looking for assailants in every shadow and enemies behind every smile. If one should get past this wall, however, he can be a loyal friend and associate, and anyone in his good graces is never safer than when they're in his company. He has a lot of anger and deeply ingrained loneliness, but he tries not to let too many of his regrets eat him alive. He can't afford to regret his role among the Colossus Project, lest the very fiber of his identity come unraveled. He is already very introspective to a point some might call him brooding, and self-sacrificing of his own wants for the sake of protecting others or completing an assigned job.As an Imperial operative, he has done a great many things that some would consider evil, but out and about in Eorzea, he has also done a lot of good for others. Just don't call him a nice guy or a hero... he'll tell you you're full of it.Romantically, he's dumber than a box of rocks. A woman could give him every possible signal that she's interested in him, but he will usually not pick up on it, and if he does he'll try to discourage it. After all, she wouldn't want someone who might as well be a monster, let alone one that worked for the Empire, right?RP Hooks:Garlemald: Glace gained something of a reputation among the Empire for having high success rate for tracking down and retrieving stolen Imperial weapons, equipment, etc, as well as for the elimination of said thieves, and any traitors he’s sent after.Project Survivors: He also had a certain amount of notoriety, particularly among the IIIrd Legion and related to the Colossus Project. If the project was one of those hush-hush things at any point, it became less so in recent years due to the internal conflict of two of the project’s chief overseers, and Glace’s persistent advocating for better conditions for his brothers and sisters. He’s not afraid to toe a line when he feels it’s warranted. It is reasonable that he may be known to survivors of Garlemald's many other experiments where Spoken test subjects were involved.Chimera: Many of the Colossus Project subjects were augmented using cores taken from Allagan chimerae, and Glace is no exception. His chimera type was known as a Caern, a creature which resembles a deer only in silhouette. Other characters with connections to Allag and their chimerae may sense this about him if they have the means to do so.Icy Aether: Also as a result of the Project, Glace's aether is tilted strongly toward the element of ice, and he can manipulate it at will. Those who can sense aether may notice. He can only hide this when he's in an equally cold environment such as Coerthas or Garlemald, where he can mask his aether in his surroundings.Eorzeans: He has an array of clients around the realm for his taxidermy projects. Most of his creations adorn the dens and parlors of the well-to-do, including members of the Syndicate. This may have, at some time or another, afforded him a convenient means of slipping listening devices into locations where important information would have been discussed. He also provides stunning ice sculptures for parties, no matter the time of year.Limsa: He's a fairly recent addition to Limsa's ranks after aiding the Alliance in the hunt and extermination of Blasphemies during the final days. While one of their ships lacked a spotter, he ascended to the crow's nest to fill the role and as summarily awarded for his valor and timely warnings. The Lominsans, however, are not aware of his history. As far as they're concerned, he was just another adventurer in the right place at the right time.Ishgard and Voidsent: His lineage has ties to Ishgard and the disgraced House Morvaire, which was connected with House Dzemael. House Morvaire was one of four houses embroiled in heresy and Voidcalling nearly 30 years prior. He has since taken to seeking out members of these houses, known collectively as the Winter Bones, and eliminating them. He will take jobs hunting Voidsent on the off chance that it leads to any of them.OOC RP PreferencesI will gladly RP mature themes, however, character death and sexual assault are immediately off the table. If you have an idea for something which can or will permanently alter this character in any way, it needs to be discussed beforehand.Things I will do:-RP with you.
-RP with NPC players.
-RP with people who have unique and interesting concepts, especially where they have clearly worked hard to make them work in the game’s setting.
-RP with characters who are still developing.
-RP with mundane characters who aren’t combat-trained or powerful.
-RP with characters who are combat-trained and/or powerful, and have shitty social skills.
-RP with characters whose tropes may be a little overdone because I believe everyone deserves a chance.
-RP with Warriors of Light, Scions, Garlean Purebloods, and characters with mixed bloodlines.
-RP with characters who are actually dragons, Voidsent, etc.
-RP with characters from other stars, and/or timelines, because these things CANONICALLY DO HAPPEN.
-RP with characters wearing many different hats at the same time including any combination of the above.
Things I will NOT do:-Tolerate being roped into what I feel is an awkward personal plot where I feel the writer has a lot more maturing to do.
-Accept having my character’s dirty laundry aired in public without my permission.
-Be guilt-tripped into having my character respond the way you think they should to either of the above.
